Five of Ghana’s contemporary live musicians discussed the future of country’s iconic Highlife sound and gave exclusive performances on the final series of Highlife Music Deconstructed (HMD) Series.
In the fourth of five posts, we give you a bit of background of each of the artists. They include producer Kwame Yeboah, BiQo and Nee Mantse of Lala Sessions, Kyekyeku of the Opong Super Stars band, and Nyornuwofia Agorsor of the Agorsor Band.
Kyekyeku and his band have performed at events including MASA (Ivory Coast), Sauti za Busara (Zanzibar) and Visa For Music (Morocco), and has shared the stage with Salif Keita and Richard Bona at the recent Stanbic Ghana Jazz Festival in Accra.
He performed at Joy of Jazz festival in Johannesburg, South Africa, in September 2019 and then at the pan-Africa ACCES music conference in Accra this November.
